slay the spire is really something close to a mathematically perfect game, and the nature of the subgenre means that you can’t actually deviate from its framework too much. no matter what you’re here to get a small deck that can do a lot of things with some sort of busted combo, and entire games can just become window-dressing around that if they’re allowed to. playing the game until it plays itself.
one signature feature of this game is the tokens that allow you to restart a turn with a refreshed hand, or reroll basically any menu. as a resourcehead, i enjoy this, and the flexibility is immediately appealing, but the utility of redoing a bungled turn vs rerolling artifacts for the right hand of exodia is really off
